Dr Punit Shah has received the honour of the highly commended Dentist of the Year award at The Dental Awards 2010. He is one of the principal dentists of the practice. Punit graduated from the University of Manchester in 2000 with BSc [Hons] and BDS [Hons]. He gained his MFDS RCS [Edin] in 2003. After completion of vocational training, he worked in various Restorative Dentistry posts at Leeds Dental Hospital and Guys, King’s and St Thomas’ Dental Institute and also in an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery post at St Georges Hospital, Tooting.
Highlighting his commitment to Restorative Dentistry Punit went on to complete his 4-year Specialist Training at the renowned Guys, King’s and St Thomas’ Dental Institute and is now an accredited Specialist in Prosthodontics registered on the specialist Prosthodontics list with the General Dental Council (This is the field of dentistry relating to rebuilding natural teeth and restoring missing teeth with prosthetic replacements).His specialist interest is in the area of tooth wear and implant dentistry.
Punit regularly provides lectures to other dental colleagues and has also written several publications in acclaimed journals. He also advises and runs courses for other dental colleagues who wish to develop themselves further in advanced Prosthodontics.
Punit’s extensive training in the field of Prosthodontics has enabled him to restore even the most complex and difficult cases and hence to this point he receives many referrals from other dentists. Some of his patients will regularly travel hundreds of miles from Europe to be treated by him!
His gentle ethical nature and extensive experience have proved very successful with his patients. He always listens to and makes time for his patients and this is evident by the numerous compliments of gratitude that he regularly receives from them.
His interests outside work include hiking and swimming. He was once a national level swimmer. Punit is also a proud father and enjoys spending time with his two boys.
